The 4+ is where children begin their education at St Edwards. They follow the Foundation Stage curriculum where play centred learning is very important. In addition to their large double classroom they also have their own outdoor area which is used all year round.
Learning is based around different themes through the year. A favourite theme is ‘Journeys’. where we might be taking a journey to the moon, or the desert or anywhere around the world! Each September we spend a day at Beacon Hill where we will walk up the hill to have a picnic and then play in the woods. Other topics covered include ‘Colour’ and ‘Mini-beasts’. The class is taught by the class teachers, Mrs Riches and Mrs Sherwood as well as Nursery Nurse, Mrs Pett. Learning Support Assistants also work within the class at certain times during the week.
