Year 4
Class 4 is taught by Miss Evans and Mrs Sycamore who job-share. As well as daily maths and English lessons the children develop their skills through a range of topics.
In the autumn term we develop our knowledge of the Ancient Greeks. The children use a wide range of historical evidence to find out about this key period from the past.
In the spring term we discover what makes Castle Donington such a special place to live and compare it with another area. During this geography based topic we have an overnight residential stay in Castleton in Derbyshire. The trip is always lots of fun and the children gain huge amounts from it, with many claiming it to be the highlight of the year!
In the summer term we explore electricity, why it is vital to our daily lives and how we use it. In this science based topic we use our DT skills to create purposeful electric circuits as well as learning how to stay safe.
Throughout our topic work, we incorporate a wide range of subjects including history, geography, art, drama, music, computing and design and technology. Children also continue to develop their PE and science skills. We also spend time learning more about ourselves in PHSE and other religions and cultures in religious studies.
