Year 6
Year 6 is taught by Mrs March Monday to Thursday and Mrs Bennett on a Friday. A Learning Support Assistant also works within the classroom throughout the week providing support and intervention where required.
Year 6 begin their year with an amazing residential trip to a PGL centre. The few days away are full of fun challenges and activities. The children have an amazing experience and will achieve a real sense of team work, encouragement and support as they try out new activities and stay away from home.
During Year 6, our topics are titled Challenges, Conflict and Adventure. Within our topic work we cover all aspects of the curriculum including History, Geography, Art, Drama, Music, Computing and Design and Technology. Children in Year 6 also continue to develop their skills in PE, Science and French during the year.
During May, the children in Year 6 sit their SATs. More information will be given to parents during the year but at St Edward’s we aim to send every child to secondary school well prepared, both academically and socially.
The end of year performance is a Year 6 highlight and really provides the children with the chance to try out their acting skills and shine as they say goodbye to St Edward’s and move on to the next chapter of their learning.
